Oh no D! They have been busy now for ages! What do they still have to do? You sound like me towards the end when I had my kitchen done huhohi . Towards the end I also had it, and I could not care less whether they were finished or not - I just wanted the OUT! Out of my house and out of my life! I will not recommend them to anyone.

We still have our bathroom to redo, but luckily that is not so major and will not take longer than a week.

Shame R I feel for you! That's really not something to look forward to.

C - at least yours is outside.

What got to me the most was that I was couped up at home... and spent days waiting for the damn people to JUST PITCH UP!! I'd call them if they hadn't pitched by 10am.... then they say they are on the way.... so I wait.... and wait... by the afternoon still nothing! By then my blood was boiling. And this happend not once, not twice, not even three times. I don't even recall how many times they did not come and wasted my entire day.

I don't think my marriage would survive any more huge renovations....

Dee, the problem is that the guys had to chop the wall so that the plaster would stick to the wall, but as soon as the started chopping, the bricks started to crumble and fall into holes so it is best just to rebuild the entire wall. There goes my kitchen plan for another year!

Oh no R! Good luck with that! Are you sure you can't move somewhere else temporarily until it's all finished? Especially with baba around?

C, are you not able to just plaster over those bricks? Or have they laid them with the big holes facing outward?

Ahh Dee, sorry to hear that you are felling so frustrated about your home. I hear you and I understand exactly where you are coming from. A wanted the front wall plastered and when the guys started with the job on Sunday they discovered that the wall is built with breeze blocks (those very big grey bricks with the big holes in them), so we are having to re-build the entire front wall!

pale That's awful Patty. So sad.
Ok you have officially scared me into getting my 'mule' into gear!
I'm feeling so dispondent re. our house lately. Nobody can get anything right and it's taking forever to get everything finished. We are paying a small fortune and yet the service we are getting from everyone is disgusting. I've practically just given up and just want everyone the hell out of here for once and for all. It just makes me so angry that people can't do their jobs properly or follow simple instructions.
And I swear!! It is the last time I support someone's business because they are 'friends'!!! They are the worst!!!!!!!

Ok sorry.....just had to get all that off my chest. Embarassed

We dont have a pool and I like it that way, im so paranoid as it is.Besides im not a fan of swimming.
When we aere in Durban at my Cousins house I could not rest for a second cause they have a pool without a net and its right by the front door and C just wanted to swim all the time, I evenlocked her in the room with us at night just incase she found her way there.

Heard about that one PC and it broke my heart at the time, it also made me so angry that parents could be so negligent to have a swimming pool, without a net and they let the pool get into that state.

cop D .... no no no no no!!! The number for AquaNet is 011 886-4005. PHONE NOW!

A few years back, when C still had his Spar, we one weekend joined a search group in the area searching for a 2 year old boy that went "missing". We started searching the Saturday around 5pm when they realized he was gone, until late the Sunday afternoon. The entire neighbourhood searched through the night, C never even came home until the boy was found. The little boy was found by the police that Sunday afternoon in their OWN filthy green swimming pool. They must have looked in there a hundred times, but because it was dirty and dark, nobody could see him. It was so so sad. He was the most beautiful and gorgeous boy and his dad never came to the shop without him. It was so heartbreaking to see the family after that. They aged overnight and looked skinny and tired. The parents got divorced about a year later. Both completely fell apart..... and the older brother (there was a big age gap between them, I think about 10 yrs).... well, he turned into a drug addict and OD'd a few years later. Both their sons gone.

Dee, don't feel guilty. I was in the pool with J when K fell in and we found her face down in the water, and I didn't hear a thing. J told me to look because K was "swimming". Thank God she was alright, and even came up laughing but the shock was still there.

Shite!!! They are so lucky it didn't turn out bad.
I am sitting here feeling guilty as can be, because at the moment, we don't have a net on the pool. They took the floor clips out when they re-did the paving around the pool area and we keep forgetting to phone AquaNet to come and fit new ones. Embarassed Not that it's an excuse, but the only reason we keep forgetting is because L is never outside now in winter. I know, we must get it done regardless. All it takes is 1 second AND we've had an incident before already AND he's not confident in water AT ALL. Shocked AND!!! What about my friend's/family's smaller kids??!!!!!!!! Flip!!! I would absolutely die if anything had to happen to someone else's child on my property, never mind my child!!!!!
Ok.....where's that number??? nervous

When we put a pool in at our townhouse, we had the net over the pool while the pool was filling up. When we were looking at our current home, one of the first things on the list was a pool net. I struggle to understand why parents would be so negligent with the lives of their little ones. Hell, after 9 months of pregnancy with each of my children, you can bet your bottom dollar that I'll look after my angels as best I can.

Swimming pools, Toddlers, and pool nets!!!! Warning, this is a RANT!!!!!

Post by Pattycakes on 2nd June 2008, 5:33 pm

flamingmad flamingmad How in Heaven's name do you NOT have a pool net on your swimming pool if you have a toddler in the house????? flamingmad confused dry

A friend, from K's old school, just SMS'd me to ask for someone to put a pool net up for her, because they took her toddler (he's just under 2 yrs) out of the pool just over an hour ago! pale
I am shocked. No. Actually I am fuming mad. Evil or Very Mad How a parent can be so irresponsible is beyond me. hmph flamingmad

He is ok - Thank God. please But I ask you with tears in my navy blue eyes.... if you have a pool - and you have a small child - SURELY THAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU DO?!?!?!?!?! slap crazy

When we bought our house, K must have been about 3 yrs old, I arranged with AquaNet to go put the pool net up BEFORE we even moved in!!!! I was paranoid about the pool and thought that we are going to be so busy unpacking etc that I do not even want to take the chance, not that I would let K out of my sight - but shite you just DO NOT TAKE THE RISK. Not even for a second.

Phew. Ok I feel better now.
