Re: C-sec or natural
Thabks guys, I am just so confused as natural is supposed to be better for baby and mom but I am way too scared to do it again. Im just gonna see how it goes and keep an open mind about both.

Re: C-sec or natural
There is no right or wrong when it comes to this R. It's personal choice, combined with Doc's expert advice and circumstances at the time etc..
I had no clue what I wanted to do - one day I thought vaginal was the right thing to do, the next day I wanted caesarian because I was too petrified of the pain. One confused preggy fairy, I was! Well, God took over and decided for me! I had a caesar at exactly 40wks to the day as L had not dropped one mm, I had shown absolutely no signs of being ready and his heart was taking strain everytime I had a braxton-hicks, so Dr's advice was C-sec. When I think back now, I think that for me, personally, it was a good thing, as I would never have coped with a vaginal delivery.
I think you will just know, when the time comes, what is the best route to take.

Alex specifically asked them not to give me morphine after 10pm the previous night because I had been so overdosed on the anaesthetic and aterax that I didn't know who I was (or care for that matter) so when I got up the next morning to go to the loo, I stood up and grabbed my abdomen and sat down again very quickly - weirdest sensation in the world

And the first time you stand up after you have had a c-section, you grab your abdomen because it feels like your intestines are falling out!

And I should probably say that even with having been through it twice, and knowing the second time was a bit more eina than the first time, I would gladly do it a third time, knowing it's probably going to be worse than the second.

Re: C-sec or natural
I liked my ceasars because:
The first one was after 7 hours of waiting, of which 4 were not pleasant.
I knew it would all be over in the next 30 minutes.
I didn't have to worry about what if something was going wrong like umbilical chord around the neck - would they get it in time?
It was clean, I didn't have to walk around with stitches in my neather regions
Baby wasn't all squished, but was still a bit puffy
Recovery was good on both occassions
Not that any of these things don't apply to natural birth.
What you may want to do, though, R, is read up on Epidurals... First time was fine because I wasn't sure of what to expect, and I remember it being a lot more pleasant than the second time. Second time the Dr's and nurses were to busy with Erich so that he didn't vomit that they didn't notice the Anaethetist had started putting the Epidural in... Once it's in, it all free wheeling and lekker from there!
Oh, and 15 - 18 hours after the op... expect your abdomen to be sore. Again, second time was a lot worse than the first time because they had difficulty getting Ethan out, as he was even further away from the birth canal than Kiefer, and has proven to be a real terror ever since. Just use the morphene (spelling...) - I don't care how to spell it, all I need to know is how get it in!

I am really leaning towards a ceasar, the one thing that put me off was I thought the risk of baby swallowing fluid was very high.I wont feel like I have lost my right as a woman cause I thought I was gonna die with C.I just needed some positive with a c-sec. Thanks guys

Re: C-sec or natural
Natural isn't always best, Raquel. If I'd insisted on Natural, I would have really been in extreme pain as Kiefer was lying the wrong way, so would have come out forehead first (moerse eina), and as he'd gone into distress and swallowed muconium, and his heartrate was going bonkers because after 4 hours I still hadn't dialated a mm since the second induction, he could have died.
Very happy with my two ceasars, thanks.
PND for C-Sec moms... I would say those are women who were dead set against having a ceasar and feel that they've lost something crucial to being called a woman and mother if they hadn't lost half their blood content giving birth vaginally.
Kiefer, after his experience, breast fed okay, and first time round I had big problems getting him to latch, and add to that the fact that I wasn't producing enough milk. Second time round no issues what so ever. Popped Ethan out at 38 weeks, and the rest is history. Latched like a dream from the beginning, bonded immediately, no issues what so ever. NO PND!!! Not until I got some mild depression a year or so later, but that had nothing to do with the birth.
Also easier on C if the second one is planned. You can prepare her, and she'll know exactly what's happening.

Re: C-sec or natural
Neither baby swallowed amniotic fluid so we were lucky in that regard - not really a risk with a c-sec.

Re: C-sec or natural
Okay so you understand that your birthplan is not cast in stone then? C-sec moms have a higher rate of PND vs natural birth so that for me is a fairly good motivators for natural birth.
You will need to chat to your gynae closer to the time and he can check to see if your placenta is high enough for you to give natural birth, otherwise you are going to have to have a c-section.
K wanted to arrive 3 weeks earlier than her due date so she was definitly ready but we kept her in longer to give her more of a fighting chance and then we had a scheduled c-section which was more pleasant than my emergency c-section with J. J was 4 weeks early, my water broke at 2am, I was induced twice, had 2 contractions the whole day and had dilated 1cm in 14hrs so I had no choice really. I had my final contraction as I was being wheeled into theatre and then it was downhill for me from there. Point of that whole story is that if you can plan a c-section then you are in a much better position emotionally to deal with it.

C-sec or natural
I am sooooo scared of having this baba, I had natural with C with no epidural or pain killers and I have still not forgotten, I wanted to die and can still say its probably the worst thing I have ever done, because the placenta is still a little low I am not sure if I should rather have a c-sec. I am more pro natural but cant go through that again and I think a planned c-sec would work better for us. I also dont like the fact that baby comes "before your body is ready" as with natural your bady releases hormones which help baby with sucking reflexes and a whole lot of stuff. A friend of mine had a c-sec only when she went into labour. Im so nervous ladies and need some advice
